Volunteers of the ByPol initiative analyzed the lists of citizens who were injured in Minsk during and after mass actions from August 9 to 26, 2020.

1,141 people sought medical treatment on their own or were delivered by ambulance from the police stations and temporary detention centers, including 95 people from Okrestina.

To ensure the confidentiality of the received data, only parts of the information are published as confirmation.

The range of injuries is very wide.

Blast injuries — 64 people;

Gunshot wounds — 45 people;

Electrical injuries (use of tasers) — 3 people;

Stab wounds — 9 people;

Fractures of varying degrees — 203 people, 9 of those are fractures of the fornix or the base of the skull (which is unequivocally categorized as grievous bodily harm);

Spinal injuries — 37 people.

Despite these facts, not a single criminal case has yet been initiated.

“We would like to draw the attention of Mr. Kazakevich and Ms. Kochanova to the 2 men with injuries, which are characteristics of sexual violence and the 5 men with injuries in the groin area, including genitals.”

At the beginning of November, during a meeting with students, the First Deputy Ministry of Internal Affairs Gennady Kazakevich denied the possibility of rapes:

“Not a single fact of rape of women has been proven.”

A Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said the same thing at a meeting with the BSU (Belarussian State University) students:

“Not a single fact of rape, uterine rupture or anything else was documented. Not one.”
