BOC press secretary Sergei Lepin filed a letter of resignation. Yuri Sokolov will supervise the work of the Information Department of the Belarusian Orthodox Church — this is written on the official website of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.

On November 27, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslawye Veniamin appointed Yuri Sokolov as an acting chairman of the Synodal Information Department of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.

The Patriarchal Exarch granted the request of the Archpriest Sergiy Lepin and expressed gratitude to him for the many years of work as a Chairman of the Information Department of the BOC.

Sergei Lepin lost his position after publicly resenting the actions of the Belarusian security forces, who destroyed the national memorial in memory of Roman Bondarenko on the Square of Changes in the capital.

On November 18, Aleksandr Lukashenko quoted Lepin’s words at the meeting on topical foreign policy issues and instructed the head of his administration and the attorney general to sort it out.
